As a company, we understand the intrinsic value of your journey, striving to deliver an unforgettable sailing experience that reflects the awe-inspiring beauty of Sicily.

How much does a boat hire in Sicily cost?

The cost to hire a boat can vary based on several factors.

The season you decide to sail will impact the cost with peak times in summer being higher. Off-peak seasons, on the other hand, can offer more favourable rates. The duration of your trip is also worth considering, with options ranging from a single day excursion to a week-long voyage

The type of boat you choose is another key factor. From cosy sailboats perfect for a romantic getaway, to luxurious yachts designed for large groups or special occasions, your choice will reflect in the cost.

The port or marina from which you wish to set sail can also impact the price, with some marinas being more premium than others due to their facilities or location.

Choosing to sail with or without a skipper is another aspect to consider. If you're an experienced sailor, a bareboat charter may be your preference. However, hiring a skipper not only provides expert navigation but also local insights into Sicily's hidden gems.

Lastly, extras like equipment for water sports or additional crew members for larger boats can influence the cost. These extras can enhance your experience, making your sailing journey all the more memorable.

What is included in the cost?

Renting a boat from Nautal gives you the option to hire with or without a skipper or crew. We recommend that you contact the boat owner who will be able to advise you if this is included in the cost. Additional extras like fuel and equipment may or may not be included in the price. You will be able to see this information when you select the boat you wish to book.

What season is the best for boat hire in Sicily?

In summer, the weather in Sicily is normally hot and dry with the rest of the year characterised by mild temperatures in most of the region. The coasts, however, have very different climatic characteristics: the southern one is influenced by African winds, while the Tyrrhenian one by the perturbations coming from the continent.

The sailing season in Sicily typically begins in April and ends in October. It has a typically Mediterranean climate, the summers are hot and dry and the winters are mild and wet. The average temperature in coastal areas is around 26 °C in summer and 10 °C in winter. Rent a boat in Sicily and make the most of perfect sailing conditions for more than half of the year!

Getting to Sicily is easy and the island has two major airports, Palermo and Catania. These are connected to many European cities with direct flights and also to most cities in the rest of Italy. You can also get there by train or by boat from the mainland.

If you plan to take the ferry to reach your rental boat, Sicily is connected to the main Italian ports of Naples, Genoa, Cagliari, Civitavecchia, Livorno and Reggio Calabria. From abroad, Malta and Tunis offer sea connections.

Inside the island, the train service connects all the main cities. For short distances or to reach smaller towns or villages, we recommend the bus network.

Where to sail on your boat hire in Sicily?

Sicily is an ideal tourist destination for lovers of the ocean. Rent a boat in Sicily and explore beaches and coves only accessible by sea. Visit curious ruins – the Valley of the Temples and the Greek Theatre of Taormina or the magnificence of Mount Etna, an active volcano. A yacht in Sicily is a beautiful way to enjoy the island.

Nightlife ranges from eating your way through the Palermo street markets to live performances at Italy's largest opera house, Teatro Massimo. Sicilian cities are very different and offer attractions for all tastes. In their surroundings, you can find natural wonders that still remain intact today.

We suggest you visit Palermo with its gothic architecture and baroque basilicas, as well as the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale that are declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Taormina is located on a hill 200 metres above sea level and is the destination of the international Jet Set during the summer months.

Mondello is regarded by many people as the seaside resort of Palermo's inhabitants, characterised by splendid villas that surround the fishing villages. Sailing the Mediterranean Sea is the perfect way to enjoy your holiday with so much to see!

From Milazzo, you can sail with your Sicily boat charter to the Aeolian Islands, and if you are sailing you can admire beautiful white sandy beaches overlooking the gulf.

Other destinations not to be missed during your boat holiday are Stromboli (the black island), the beautiful Panarea and Cefalù, which are all characterised by charming bays where you can anchor. Let's not forget, of course, the Egadi and Favignana Islands, which are home to dreamlike and undisturbed landscapes.

Of course, we must also remember the beautiful architecture of Syracuse and the Naxos Gardens, near Messina, where you can dive and swim in crystal clear waters directly from your Sicily boat rental.

Make your trip unforgettable and visit the Cyclops beach near Aci Trezza, a perfect place to stop and look at the stars at night with your boat charter in Sicily. In front of the bay, there are five basalt stacks which, as the legend goes, are the boulders thrown by Polyphemus towards Ulysses' ship.
