Rent a boat in Australia

You can find boats available to rent with or without a skipper in Australia on the Nautal website. Search for sailboats, catamarans, motorboats and more in Australia and/or in the world. Flexible cancellation or date changes up to 15 days before check in is allowed on selected boats. To rent a boat in Australia means to rent an adventure onboard to sail along many-many beaches and destinations of this country.

What price are boat rentals in Australia?

Renting a boat in Australia costs from 373 £ per day in high season and from 2,355 £ for a week. Prices vary depending on different factors such as type of boat, length, age, capacity, if you book with or without a skipper, extras, etc.

Is it possible to rent a boat in Australia with or without a skipper?

Renting a boat with or without a skipper is possible in Australia.  Renting with a skipper is ideal if you want to be guided through the best places in the area and get the most out of your sailing experience. You can rent a boat in Australia without a skipper if you have the appropriate licence or if there are boats available to rent that do not require a licence. It is without a doubt a great idea to be the captain of your own boat if you are an experienced sailor.

Which are the most popular ports in Australia?

Choosing where to rent could be one of your biggest dilemmas, as we offer boat rentals almost anywhere! If you have your heart set on Sydney you can rent directly from there or choose a nearby location such as Cronulla. There are plenty more boats available to rent in New South Wales, as well.

Those itching to experience the Great Barrier Reef up close on their own private boat rental can rent in Queensland. Abell Point Marina and Airlie Beach are popular boat rental locations in this area, as well as Shute Harbour and Long Island.

Victoria is an option for those wishing to cruise the southern seas and catch a glimpse of—or even visit—Tasmania. You can also rent from Loch Sport

Perhaps Perth is the right boat rental in Australia for you if you’re keen to sail the Indian Ocean and navigate the West Coast.

Other Sailing Areas in Australia

Australia’s shimmering coastline is lined with wonderful areas for sailing or mooring and exploring the mainland. Here is some information to help you decide where to sail in Australia on your boat rental.

  • The Whitsundays

The Whitsundays might seem like a classic holiday destination yet it is so popular for many reasons, and for one very special reason in particular. These fabulous islands blessed by the Great Barrier Reef will triumph in any sailing holiday. What better way to cruise the Barrier Reef than on your own private vessel? You don’t have to sail for a certain duration; if you’re looking for just a couple of days or even an afternoon, this is the ultimate boat rental location.

  • Moreton Bay

Situated in Queensland, this beautiful bay lies on the coast between Stradbroke Island, Moreton and mainland Australia. It is near Brisbane which means you can fly to Brisbane and rent directly from there, or alternatively find something a little closer. This area is fantastic for both couples looking to get away and cruise the islands or for big families who want to pack in as many activities as possible. This area is somewhat an aquatic hotspot for divers, avid swimmers and sailors.

  • Great Sandy Strait

Another option in this spectacular location is the Great Sandy Strait, situated between Bundaberg and the Sunshine Coast. The transparent water is remarkable for daytime dips and is the perfect place to rent a boat in Australia. There is an abundance of marine life here too; you can sight dolphins, turtles, whales and dugongs!

  • Port Jackson, Sydney

Keep it classic and combine your sailing holiday with a trip to the Opera House and many other top sights in Sydney. Port Jackson is lined by Sydney Harbour National Park but it is also within reach of other must-visit areas such as Bondi Beach. The stellar combo of wonderful weather and stunning scenery make for a fantastic stay on a boat in Sydney.

How is the weather in Australia?

Australia has quite different weather conditions depending on the part of the country. However, from October to April temperatures average around 33°C/91°F. Winters (June-August) are mild, with average daily July temperatures around 27°C/81°F. Overnight temperatures rarely fall below 5°C/41°F at any time of year. The average annual rainfall is 532 mm but sometimes no rain falls for months.

When is the best time for sailing holidays in Australia?

This really depends on the type of holiday you want.  In Australia, the high season for sailing is from late November until March, even though this does overlap with the Australian cyclone season, which runs from November until April.  Although very few cyclones have actually occurred in Australia, another thing to consider in this time period, is the fact that the Australian summer holidays occur during these months, leading to crowded beaches.

If you want to avoid the crowds, maybe you’d be better off going during the Australian winter as although the weather can vary a lot, the winter temperatures are rarely extreme.  It’s also likely that you’ll be able to find better deals on boats during the winter months.

How to get to Australia?

You can fly every day to the east-coast cities from Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. Fares depend on the season, the highest being the two weeks on either side of Christmas. Fares drop during the “shoulder” seasons – late February to May and mid-August to November – and you’ll get the best prices during low season, June to mid-August. Because of the distance from the most popular departure points, flying on weekends does not alter the price. Of course, you can also choose a more adventurous way and take a ship trip from Asia.
